Objectives
The Amsterdam Treaty and the Conclusions of the Tampere Summit have set forth novel priorities and objectives in the immigration policy of the EU. Within this context, the present study aims to evaluate in a comparative perspective the guidelines of European and national immigration policy, to critically assess the status of compliance of the national institutional framework and administrative practice and make coherent recommendations and proposals for improving relevant policies and legislative instruments.
