Period June 2004 - July 2004 Project Migration Policy Institute Objectives The Amsterdam Treaty and the Conclusions of the Tampere Summit have set forth novel priorities and objectives in the immigration policy of the EU. Within this context, the present study aims to evaluate in a comparative perspective the guidelines of European and national immigration policy, to critically assess the status of compliance of the national institutional framework and administrative practice and make coherent recommendations and proposals for improving relevant policies and legislative instruments. Implementing Institutions The Centre for European Constitutional Law was responsible for the scientific co-ordination of the Project.
